It has been a whirlwind start to the early days of my Presidency of Drogheda Chamber and I am delighted to report that there has been some very positive developments in recent weeks which aim to improve the business environment for all those operating in the greater Drogheda district.

Through the media and our ezines to you, no doubt many of you will have heard about the Chamber’s successful bid, in securing ‘Local Heroes – One Town Fight’s Back’ a new 6 part RTE Series which will screen in November & December, showing how Drogheda is fighting to improve the local economy with the help of a dream team of business experts.

Those involved in the show include; Feargal Quinn, Retail Expert, Jerry Kennelly one of Ireland’s leading entrepreneurs, Gary Joyce a highly experienced marketing consultant, Noel Toolan, place brand specialist, Robert Mac Giolla Phadraig, executive director with Sigmar Recruitment and Pat Savage, an acknowledged European expert on innovative forms of work organisation.

As a precursor to this successful bid, we at Chamber had set about developing a plan of action for Drogheda dubbed, ‘Town of Drogheda Regeneration’ Policy. We are seeking input to this document in advance of presentation to the local authority elected and non-elected officials, local TD’s and key stakeholders for action. 

To add weight to the proposals we have included in this ‘TODR’ Policy document, a survey conducted of businesses in Drogheda.
