Speaking today Pierce said, “I intend to use my mandate as President of Chambers Ireland to leverage my international contacts from my professional role with a view to enhancing relationships between voluntary Irish business organisations overseas and the Chamber network here in Ireland.”
“Chambers are the largest business organisation in the world and I am confident that the enhanced international focus and relationship building that the Irish Chamber network will undertake in 2007 can help ‘Ireland Incorporated’ to further enhance opportunities for both foreign direct investment and internationalisation—via the opening of new markets for Irish goods and services,” he added.
Pierce joined the board of Chambers Ireland in 2005 having been involved with Dublin Chamber of Commerce for many years where he served as President in 2004. During his time with Dublin Chamber, David spear-headed the Chamber’s 2020 Vision – a highly acclaimed plan for the development of Dublin up to the year 2020.
He is a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and a Past President of the Leinster Region ACCA. He was awarded the ACCA Accountant of the year Award in 2004. He is also a member of the Institute of Bankers and the Marketing Institute of Ireland.
Pierce was elected president at Chambers Ireland’s recent annual general meeting at which the organisation’s board for 2007 was appointed. The board now includes new appointees David Carson, Partner, M&A Transaction Services, Deloitte and Dónall Curtin, Partner, Byrne Curtin Kelly.
