With an annual budget of €30m and a staff of 180, Drogheda Borough Council is the local authority responsible for delivering a wide range of public services in Drogheda and its environs.
Part of Louth Local Authorities, the Council is committed to playing a constructive role in steering the town through the current economic downturn with the elected members led by the Mayor, Cllr Michael O’Dowd, and Council officials working hard to ensure Drogheda has a business-friendly environment.
The Council is also committed to supporting a strengthening of Drogheda’s enterprise, further and higher education infrastructure so that those with new business ideas can receive comprehensive supports during the important start-up phase.
Specifically, the Council is part of the Drogheda Economic Forum which is to drive implementation of a range of measures proposed in a report on the town commissioned by the Council from Indecon International Economic Consultants.
Drogheda Borough Council works in partnership with a range of public and private sector bodies to advance Drogheda’s agenda and to help the town realise its tremendous potential and to fully exploit the location in the Dublin-Belfast economic corridor.
Sustainable economic development and employment creation will also be a priority issue in framing the Drogheda Development Plan which will promote development in the town and its environs from 2011-2017.
