Louth County Enterprise Board was established in 1993 to support small business development in County Louth. The Board, which is a statutory body, under the aegis of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, provides practical support to entrepreneurs who wish to establish their own business and to existing small enterprises with development needs. These supports include financial aid and training and mentoring which are tailored to meet the specific needs of the client companies.
The Board and staff have also developed considerable expertise in the area of schools’ enterprise, cross-border trade, technology application and business planning which is available to all business sectors in the region.
The Board has initiated and provides on-going support to a number of projects which service specific business and sectoral needs. These include business networking (Plato programme), cross border trading (Tradelinks programme), female entrepreneurship (Women In Enterprise programme), craft clustering (Louth Craftmark programme) and the Creative Enterprise Development programme
Experienced staff manage these programmes from the Board’s Dundalk office, in association with partners Monaghan County Enterprise Bord, Newry & Mourne Enterprise Agency and Enterprise Northern Ireland. These programmes have also enjoyed considerable financial support from the Peace and Reconciliation and Interreg Programmes.
