Meet the Judges
The purpose of the event was to discuss the categories, the judging criteria and the experiences of applicants. Padriag Warren who chaired the Judging Panel, gave a presentation on the criteria used when assessing applications. He pointed out that the Business Excellence Awards Model was based on the EFQM Excellence Model, which recognises that there are many approaches to achieving excellence in all aspects of performance. It is also based on the premise that excellent results regarding performance, customers, people and society are achieved through leadership driving policy and strategy, and is delivered through people partnerships, resources and processes.
He mentioned that regardless of sector, size, structure or maturity, to be successful, organisations need to establish an appropriate management system. The Drogheda Business Excellence Awards Model is a practical tool to help organisations do this by measuring where they are on the path to excellence, helping them understand the gaps, and then stimulating solutions.
Those present were inspired by the presentation and found it to be very worthwhile. Many mentioned that they are already thinking about preparing their application for the 2007 Awards.
