Drogheda Chamber Launch New Initiatives

The seminar outlined the latest developments in employment legislation and afforded attendees the opportunity to evaluate their own HR practises. The seminar also initialised Chamber HR, a HRM product suite that will be available to all Chamber Members throughout the Republic of Ireland. Chamber HR offers employers 24 hour access to experts on employment and human resources legislation and provides interpretations of the law and advice on human resource management as well as representation and indemnification against employment awards.

Drogheda Chamber President, Eugene Kierans said “Businesses are struggling as a result of the legal burdens they face. Feedback from our members strongly indicates that businesses especially SMEs struggle to keep abreast of the constant changes in employment legislation, yet they are responsible for compliance and implementation.”

Chamber HR seeks to protect those who endeavour to comply with the laws but lack the expertise to do so. HR legislation can be difficult to interpret and many SMEs cannot afford to hire a skilled HR Director to ensure they are always on the right side of the law.

In addition, Drogheda Chamber also launched the Chamber Business School which offers a varied selection of short courses and intensive workshops on such important topics including selling, presentation skills, leading teams, management skills and financial skills.

Speaking after the event, Tom Garry of Berrill Kiernan Garry & Co. said “I found this event to be very informative and worthwhile especially the Business School element. It’s fantastic to see our local Chamber focusing on the needs of the local business community. I will certainly avail of the Business School courses which are specific to my own needs in the near future.”

These tailor made programmes will be offered to Chamber members at a huge discount of 75%.  They are part of the FÁS Training for People in Employment Programme, which aims to increase the knowledge, skills and competencies of the Irish workforce.  A full listing of courses is available on the Chamber’s website www.droghedachamber.com
